I had a complicated situation with my Sigmatel sound. It did not work
after the original install. After the install, Windows Update indicated their
was an update, installed it- still no sound. Copied the Cab folder in XP
that had an update I downloaded from Gateway about a year ago for
my sound card. Pointed the "Update Driver" to that folder, looked liked
it installed. I restarted my computer, still no sound. So, I went back to
the folder and ran the setup routine. It ran, I restarted, and I heard the
most beautiful noise when my computer started up. Once again, Windows
Update said there was an update available. What the hell, I tried it and
thankfully, my sound still works. Sounds great, too.
Speaking of the "Welcome" song- I thought I had read there was a new
one. Under 'System Sound Events' I only have Windows default and
None listed under Sound Scheme. Anyone have any new sounds or
heard the new Start Windows song?
