We recently upgraded to Windows XP and lost sound output
from our Boston Acoustics system. We have noted other
folks having similar problems and tried "fixes" that they
have recommended to no avail. Shortly after the
installation, we had a failure in our power supply that
also took out our video card. We upgraded the power
supply and installed a new video card to correct that
problem. After trying several fixes, we purchased
another sound card in hopes of that correcting our
problem. Did not work! We hear "a buzz" when the system
is turned on, but get no sound. We have learned that we
can hear through headsets.

Anyone have any ideas or been able to resolve a similar
problem?

If you are plugging your headphones into the same output that you normally
plug the speaker into and you hear sound, but don't when the speakers are
connected, then the problem lies solely in your speakers.

You should unplug all the speaker connections, make sure the connections are
clean, and reconnect everthing. If you still don't hear sound, you probably
are going to need new speakers. :(
