i am running win XP with an aopen mother board with 7.1suround sound built in
to the board. for the past month, when playing any music player like
PCDJ,WINAMP,WIN MEDIA PLAYER. it will play fine then suddenly stops, i have
run trouble shooters and they reviel nothing, the problem fixes it self when
i restart my computer. and this is really not an option for some one that
uses the computer as a DJ platform

i have done all of that and it find nothing wrong, yet all my media,mp3 and
sound programs will not play a single thing once the sounds quits, if i leave
it alone for 2 hours or so it sometimes comes back. i came here to see if i
could get help cause the troubleshooter finds nothing, i even start the
trouble shooter when the sounds quits hoping it will find the problem. but
still nothing. any ideas?

One more aspect for you to check is the internal temperature of your
PC case. When the soundcard starts to heat up it will stop functioning,
which may be your situation. Replacing it could solve it. Soundcards
on eBay run from $10 to over $200
