Sound stops for a while then starts up

I have Windows XP and use latest version WMP. I like NPR and a couple of
local radio stations; programs start just fine, but the sound stops, then
starts up again, not right away usually. What can I do to keep the streams
going?

Not a lot. You're dependant on the speed of your ISP. When the sound stops,
the stream is buffering. The flux isn't rapid enough. Stay with it.....
