Sound stops after 4 seconds

Hi, I have a sound file that is 35K that I inserted into PowerPoint. Although I inserted it, it is actually just linking to the file (if I change the file name, PowerPoint give "Can't find" error.) When I double-click the sound icon in Normal View, it plays the whole thing. When I use Slide Show, just the first 4 seconds are played. I have "Start Playing from beginning" selected and "Stop on click" selected. Any ideas?

What version of PPT (I am guessing 2003, as I have encountered more audio
problems recently than ever before. Try moving your sound file (in the
custom animation pane down to be after the animation that it pauses at - any
change?).

Oh sadness... PowerPoint 2003. I have moved the file to the last animation, I have changed it to start on a click, no change. I have placed it on a new slide all by itself. No change. The sound settings window shows it as 4 seconds instead of 8.

How frustrating. What kind of sound file is it? WAV, MIDI, MP3, WMA,
something else?

I'd probably try deleting and reinserting the sound. Also, if you
right-click and choose Edit Sound Object, what's the total playing time
listed as there?

Hi Echo - I have deleted & added, I have used PPT 2002 & 2003. No change.
File is mp3.

How big is it, Pat? Can you email it to me at (e-mail address removed)? If so, add a
reminder of what it is I'm looking at and why.

Echo
