Sound Recorder

I am slowly getting used to new powers and abilities; I found a website
which plays a very catchy background tune, and wanted to capture it.

I managed to find the sound recorder and basic instructions on how to
use it, but when I went File|New, nothing happened, so I am guessing I
do not have an input device.

Short Question: can I rip a .wav from the internet the way I do with an
image or text? Any advice will be gratefully appreciated.

P D,

What's the link to the website?

You can probably just drag the sound file out of your Temporary Internet
Files folder.

Well, you most likely won't be able to copy the audio file from your
Temporary Internet Files folder because on this particular page, the
audio is coming from within a Macromedia Flash object. The audio file
is actually embedded within the object and is only removable with
speciality software.

If you can somehow identify the music that is playing, then you could
try a search engine search to see if someone has it for download.

The audio file is in Flash format. It should be in your temporary
Internet files and is called cultbye.swf.
To play this file you will need Flash Player which you can download for
free from

Hope this helps

Rats! I thought it would be something like that, and I'm afraid the BBC
will say its proprietary and won't give me file. Thanks for trying!

I do not have the POS Flash player, but cultbye.swf looks like the file.
And, as previously posted, it's embedded.

You may be able to capture it with an application like WMRecorder.

Omigod, no offense, but I'm sure glad no one wasted their time in trying to
help you so far!

It's OK that you're a newbie, and I understand your position, but the lack
of information in your original post is pathetically useless. OTOH, you'll
never know if you don't ask, so here's something that may help you out:

Oh: For what you want to do, you'll need a 3rd party application but I
don't think you're ready to download that yet. XP can't record audio from
the internet.
