Hey guys, I'm having major Computer Sound Recorder problems. My Sound Recorder absolutely ceased to record anymore AND I DID NOT CHANGE ANY SETTINGS PRIOR TO THIS HAPPENING. When I record something there's just dead silence. It was working perfectly though

I spent over 2hrs with DELL TECH on the phone and they couldn't figure out what was going on. We even uninstalled the SoundBlaster and installed it back again. Has anybody had this problem before?! I need help! thanks....

Do the two basic tests
1. Rightclick the sound icon (bottom righthand corner of screen on taskbar) and click "Open volume Control", now check if any of the "Mute" buttons are checked or the sliders are in the middle. If OK, then go to test 2
2. Rightclick the sound icon again and click "Adjust Audio Properties". Now click the Sounds tab. Highlight any item under Program Events that has a sound icon in front of it and click the small right arrow below (to the left of Browse) to hear the sound. If no sound, then you have a soundcard or setup problem. Unplug your speakers and turn off PC. Remove the sound card and reboot, your PC should come up with an error message that there is no soundcard installed. Shutdown PC and plug soundcard back in, then check if your PC's plug&play feature picks up new hardware found and installs the sound card. If it does, do tests 1 and 2 again. Best of luck, hope you don't need to buy a new sound card. A good one runs $65 or more.
