sound recorder dead - XP Prof. - HP D325 soundmax

basic XP sound recorder is dead, even showing HP onboard
soundmax card as active sound device .. MIC is selected and
active on mixer .. needed to reinstall Media Player 9 to
get back the sound playback .. it automaticly downloaded
CODEC from scratch at first music playback .. reinstalled
also the original HP audio drivers didnt fix the problem ..
all applications that use Microphone are dead, also the wav
sound from Windows desktop.. what happended to audio
system, any hints to restore audio functions ?
