Greetings,
After installing a new hd, and XP Pro, I do not have any system sound thru
the speakers. I believe the sound is built-in on the MB. In device mgr. all
devices under sound, video, and game controllers, look ok. Under other
devices, there is a multimedia audio controller, and has a yellow question
mark and yellow exclamation point by it. I have tried to update driver on
this with no luck. When I try to play windows sounds in the control panel the
play-arrow is greyed out not letting me play them. What else can I try?
Thanks

need details on the hardware, more than likely you need to install the sound
drivers in proper order.

You need to go to the computer manufacturer's website (or the
motherboard manufacturer's website) and find the XP drivers.

Thanks, but could you elaborate on the proper order? Under other devices,
there is only one device, the multimedia audio controller. In properties,
the mafgr. is unknown, and the location is PCI bus 0,device 17,function 5.
All other drivers in sound, video, and game controllers are installed.
