Sound probs with WMP

I have recently started getting random clicking noises
when playing any audio on WMP, sounds like its playing a
record(vinyl)! Gets worse the more output there is! ie
when the music gets louder. This doesn't happen on other
media playing software. Anybody got any ideas?
