I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 and my sound card is a SigmaTel High Defininition
Audio CODEC well I have no sound how can I fix this, I have Vista Ultimate.
it says no output device installed. But when it says configure it is not
highlighted for me to click, what can I do to fix this?

Ok I got the correct driver I think or so it says it is. But now when I go to
Open Volume Mixer it says there are no devices, although now since I
installed the new driver it does show I have speakers now, where as before it
did not.

Go to Control Panel > Device Manager and expand the Sound, video and game
controllers. Is there a yellow triangle with an exclamation point on it, or a
red circle? If not then the drivers have installed correctly. Is there a red X
on the speaker icon in the Notification Area of the Taskbar? If not, right
click on the speaker icon, choose Playback Devices, right click on the window
and select Show Disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices, highlight
Speakers and set as Default, and use the Configure and Properties buttons at the
bottom of the window to set up your speakers. While you are there go to the
Sounds tab and test your speakers.
