I am having a problem with sound and with custom annimations. The first time
through a slide show they work fine, but if I return to the slide a second
time, the sound and custom annimation effects do not work as expected. Any
ideas?

Put a blank slide before the one you want to return to, and link to it instead. This will allow your sounds etc. to play again.

Just an addendum to Michael's instruction, instead of putting a blank slide
in front of the slide you want to link to, make it an exact copy of the
slide. Then give the first slide a timing of 00:00. The reason is that even
with a timing of 0, your audience will briefly see the blank slide. If it's a
duplicate, the look will be seamless.

0o0o0o nice. A duplicate slide - of the beginning state and with all the
animation and sound removed I take it.

This sounds good, but I think I'm missing something. Let me explain exactly
what I'm trying to do. I'm a teacher and am creating a virtual lesson.

Slide in middle of Presentation poses a question for kids. It says -- click
on the correct answer and gives four options. Depending on which button the
kid clicks, they are taken to a different slide. A correct answer slide, or
a wrong answer slide. Both the correct and wrong answer slides have animation
and sound.

So there are no timings perse. Since the program is user driven or clicked,
there are not preset timings to advance the slides. So I'm not sure if I can
use the option you are suggesting. I am a novice obviously so tell me if I'm
missing the obvious.
Thanks for your time. Pam
