Seth

so i just installed windows xp over my old windows ME os.
and everythign seemed to be going fine, but i noticed that
my sound was not working. i checked everything, the cables
are plugged in, the device managers are enabled and say
its all workng properly, yet no sound.. i have no idea
wahts going on..

also. i was looking in 'my computer', and i clicked on the
local disk harddrive, and i noticed all of my files and
folders from my old os. and i was basically hoping for
this new installation would delete everything from the old
windows, and start completly clean... is there any way to
do that and perhaps install windows xp again?

any help would be incredible

Seth,
It's likely that the drivers for your sound card are
not compatable with Windows XP. Go to the website of your
sound card manufacturer and download and install the
latest Windows XP drivers.

Hope this helps,
Milt

seth,

there is an option for you to format your hard drive during the installation
process. this will erase everything in your hard disk. make sure, though,
that you have backed up all your important documents.

regards!
