This is the 4th time I've tried to get help. Please help
me!

Every so often, I lose all sound on my computer and I get
a message saying there is no sound device installed. I
check the device manager and I am told everything is
working properly. Most of the time the sound comes back
when I reboot.

The problem seems to have either appeared after I had
broadband installed, or when I upgraded my memory to 512k
a week later. This is really driving me mad and I'd be
grateful of any help.

Maybe this will help. Take out your soundcard and put it
back in . Restart your pc. Maybe this will help.
Or you can try to find the latest updates for your
soundcard and/or OS.

You might also try deleting it in control panel - system -
hardware devices and then shut your system down and move
the card to a different slot. When you turn it back on
windows should auto discover it and assign it a different
IRQ etc.

I am seeking help for something similar I think. I just
bought a new e-machine t-2865 beefed up system with more
speed and space for multimedia which has a little cheap
analog sound system (sound card and speakers). When I
plugged in my better Boston Acoustic BA735 speakers -
nothing. What I've found when investigating different
sites for discussions, articles regarding XP and digital
sound not being compatible: was that there is apparently
problems with soundcards and digital vs. analog speakers.
I'm not sure if that anyone else's problem or not but I am
really having a hard time getting someone who knows about
it to help. Anyone know how to solve this problem in the
least expensive/labor-intense way?

I'd sure appreciate it - thanks, Karen (e-mail address removed)
