Noel S Pamfree

I have this problem that although the internal speakers on my laptop work
fine when I play a CD or an ipod tune I cannot get any sound when I visit
any website and attempt to play a video. I see the picture but there is no
sound.

The sound is not muted and there are no yellow !s in device manager.

Can anyone give me some pointers?

Many thanks,

Noel

Hi Noel,

Check your Multimedia settings in the Internet Options > Advanced tab.

Regards.

Post back if this does not fix your problem.

Thanks for the reply.

I have checked the Tools / Internet Options and found a tick in all the
boxes.

Any other ideas will be appreciated!

Rob,

I have been trying various ideas out and have discovered that I can see some
videos etc. but not when they use Macromedia Flash.

I think I had better go to a Flash news group!

Sorry for any inconvenience!

I discovered the solution on the Adobe users group website it is caused by
the mapping of wavemapper in the Windows registry.

You need to enter the registry (Start / Run / regedit <OK>)

In the left panel open:

My computer\ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft|Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32

right-click in the right pane and NEW and select "String Value"

Rename the name created as "wavemapper" then double-click on the 'ab' icon
and type "msacm32.drv" and <ENTER>.

Problem solved - no need to reboot.

Hope this helps someone else.

Noel
