Heya guys. I am on my friend's laptop at the moment, and he said he removed the speaker software by accident. He is saying that music doesn't play ?! Or any sound for that matter ?! :S

What can he do ?!

It's a Toshiba Satellite Pro.

Would he need drivers or something ?!

No message comes up like as an error. Nothing happens :S

Help ! lol :P Cheers

He removed the speaker software by accident? That must have been some determined accident.

OK, to state the obvious - reinstall the sound software (drivers). They should be on the installation drivers CD that came with the laptop.

If he's lost the CD, go to the Toshiba online laptop site and download the latest sound drivers and install them.

I kinda did the same thing, execpt with the onboard graphics....

ok. I have downloaded them and extracted them, but can't find the file to install them ?!?! lol

I THINK i downloaded the right one...

The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 if anyone can get it please, so i know the right one.

Thanx :) Hope it works .

i think there should be one file to click on in order to start the installaiton of the drivers!
is this a new laptop?

if its new or fairly new please forgive me, but if its old i remember that I had my sisters Toshiba laptop quite old it was, but it was a bloody massive task to get her sound to work i think i had the same problem as you. i did download the right drivers but i didnt know what to do with em!
in the end i gave up.

good luck to you

You'll need to go to Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager/Sound Video and Game Controllers.

Then, depending on what you have there, right click on the Audio drivers and possibly one or two others (possibly audio codec interface & audio processing unit) and then click 'update driver'.

Then during the install process browse to where your downloaded audio drivers are and they should install. You may have to install drivers to more than one location, so you'll effectively install them twice.

lol ! He doesn't really know but he thinks it is. Not a year old i think ...

I installed MAXsound ?! What ever that is lol But it has done something because before when i went onto control panel and then sound and audio devices it wouldn't let you change anything on there ... once that was installed it lets you change it now ... and also on windows media player the bar wouldn't move on music files now it does ....

lol Really confusing !!!

Also ... everything is on full blast and STILL no sound is coming out ... everything seems ok ... the bar on itunes is moving etc. and before the little sound thing next to the music file being played the sound waves didn't come out, now they do ... sooooo

Is it something wrong with the ACTUAL speakers or ... lol

Did you? Also, have you taken a look in Control Panel/Sounds & Audio Devices and checked settings in there?

To verify if speakers working or not, try a pair of headphones in the sound socket.

Yeah headphones are working :S

Also how do i install it in 2 places or whatever you said :S lol soz me a bit tired !

All settings are on full etc.

:P

Then drivers are installed OK and it's working.

No need. I did say it was only a possibility you may have to, setups are different for different chipsets.

All settings are on full etc.
OK.

If his speaker setup isn't working, there's something at fault there. Check it's receiving power and that all cable connections are good.

Everything is ok ... all cables are good i think ?!

Is it possible that the speakers have blown ?!

:S

What sort of speaker setup is it? Is it an external system that plugs into the same socket you used for the headphones or built in laptop speakers?

Built in

But ... just got home from his house ... i said call Toshiba up or something and he goes ... "No need speaker are working fine now m8, thanx"

Hehe thanx for da help Flops and others :D

Much appreciated

He now owes me hehe
