Sound problem on installation of XP

I have recently upgraded from Windows 98 2nd ed to Window
XP home edition. Since then I have not been able to get
the sound to work. I have a Gateway. The sales slip shows
SoundBlaster Live Value with Digital Audio Output. I have
made no progress by using the diagnostics in XP. I have
not been able to determine from Creative Labs whether a
new driver is needed for XP. Any help will be appreciated.
