Sound playback too fast on Windows 2000

After installing Windows 2000 on 2 compaq deskpro EN
machines the sound playback is too fast

even the windows startup sound is too fast so it's not
just in mediaplayer

too much helium ?

I already installed the latest driver for the soundcard
from the compaq website... no use...
 
I have the same problem with both sound and video (MPEG)
files. I have tried Real Player and Windows Media and
both have the same results. Is your video also affected?
 
Should be solved by reinstalling your sound drivers, see message:

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I reinstalled the drivers. Still not fixed.
This is wierd . Never seen B4
