Sound of the clock ticking

I just removed the power cord from my CD Rom drive because of a malfunction.
After closing up the computer, plugging it back in and starting it back up, I
constantly hear the ticking sound of my clock in the task bar. How do I stop
the sound of the ticking clock?

It is not the clock ticking. remove the IDE cable from the CD ROM too.
