Is there a setting that default mutes all sound. When I reset the volume annd
apply the setting it would clear the muting from the sound check box.

What? Please repost so us laymen can understand (in English preferably).
There is no Mute default, you set it to Mute if so preferred.

Please don't reply when you don't have the background to respond creditibly.
The sarcastic comment makes you look even worse when you don't know what your
talking about.

There is a registry setting that effects the muting on the sound setting so
the muting can't be cleared manually even when logged on with administrators
rights.

Does anyone knowing where this setting is?

You need to find a message board that fits your personality and intellect. I
thought this board was for questions and answers to technical issues not for
juvenile responses when you have nothing constructive to offer to the problem.

My next response to your posting will be to report you to whoever runs this
board so he can deal with you.

My, what hostility. You are welcome to report me if you so prefer. Click
on my User name (Byte) and see that I've helped hundreds of OP's in
regard to technical problems and provided assistance. Your post was passed
on
to MS for a possible answer or solution. The response I got was for you to
restate your situation/problem for they are not sure of what you are
experiencing,
or trying to accomplish. It may be more of a problem with your soundcard.
So, have at it. :~)

Then why didn't you say that to begin with instead of making the smart
comments. I did restate the issue in my second post on this topic. There is
no manual setting in the control panel, device manager, or anywhere else to
clear this setting therefore it is possibly registry related. The machine is
running in a terminal service seesion when the problem is occuring.

The administrative setting for mapped sound in the terminal service server
was disabled in the terminal services configuration manager (RDP setting)
causing the client sound to be muted.
