I have XP and would like my slide shows to work on 98 and
2000 machines as well.

Is there a way to insert MP3 files into a presentation and
have them work on 98 and 2000? It works fine on my
machine with XP - but when play on other machines the
sound does not work.

Also when recording into a presentation my sound is very
poor quality on my current machine. I have tried playing
with all settings (play back and recording levels) but
still the sound is very poor??? It seems to be a problem
with my current machine, as sound that I have recorded on
other machines is fine. A setting just seems to be off.

Probably the issue is that you didn't transport the MP3 files along with
the presentation when you moved them to the other machines. MP3 files
are linked to PPT, so you need to have both in order for both to play.

Also, you need to have them in the same relative place on the other
machines. Basically, you want to put the MP3 in the folder with your PPT
presentation *before* you insert the MP3 into the presentation. Then
move that folder to the other machine, keeping the PPT file and the MP3
intact.

Look for previous posts by Sonia Coleman on this newsgroup. She posts
these instructions fairly often in a way that's easier to understand.

Might be something as simple as needing a better microphone. Or a better
sound card? What exactly is "poor quality" in this case? Static? Low
volume? Something else?
