i just installed win2kpro and i had some trouble with my
sound card on my motherboard and my creative sound card.
so i messed around w/ it and fixed it but now i have no
sound mixer(vloume control). it was there when i
installed windows and now it is not. I even tried to
reinstall win2kpro but it still didnt show up.

when i click on volume control it sends this:

there are no active mixer devices available. You may
install mixer devices from the add/remove hardware wizard
in contol panel.

i went there but i dont know what it would be under.

thank you for any help

Have you disabled on board sound chip?
Installed win2k drivers from creative, for yr card?

yes i did. and i downloaded the driver from th creative
website. but i dont have my creative cd. my sound card
works fine. i just dont have the sound mixer anymore.
and i dont know how to reinstall it. all i need is the
regular windows sound mixer so i can turn on my mic.

cause when i try to record sound it says that there is
another device that is recording sound. so it wont record.

It seems more like a problem with yr Creative device, drivers not installing
corrctly?
Particularly with the msg yr seeing.

they istalled fine....it works but i dont have a sound
mixer....u know the speaker in the bottom right corner of
most people screens....i need that and i dont know how to
reinstal it.

well i just tried upgrading my driver but i need a file
that is on the creative cd....so i have no way of getting
that file....

The default win, task bar speaker, is turned on in Settings/Control
Panel/Sounds & Multimedia
The Sound Card specific mixer is a part of the sound card drivers pkge

I think that the problem is not with the devices.
My problrm is:
may computer have a sound card in the motherboard
after the instalation of the sp2 I don´t have the mixer device, and any
option to active the sound, the volume, change the speekeres, etc.
I buy anather sound card, I install it, I change the Bios configuration, and
I install the drivers that come with the new sound card.
Nothing changes. I have no sounds, no option to change de configuration, and
I want to change the sound options I recive the message that I have no
"mixer" device, to go install it.

Have you learned anything yet? I'm having the same problem and don't know why
I have "no active mixers". Thanks.
