Sound issue

I have a P4 2.4ghz Win XP machine (Asus P4sdx board) with
a gig of ram and onboard sound that has difficulty with
music. When playing a song (MP3, CDA) it intermittingly
cuts out (like a skip). It usually occurs when I move
the mouse or empty the recycle bin (or access of
resources). There are no errors in device manager. I have
also reinstalled directX, sound drivers...

To try and resolve the issue I swapped out the CPU, RAM,
board and another sound card but still the same problem.

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks!

Al
