Hello,
I had some wrong info in previous post. Trying again. I have IE6. On some
web pages, I get the sound similar to a door shutting.
I can't find out how to get rid of this sound. I have done the following:

1. On the pop-up blocker, I turned OFF the emit a sound when a pop-up is
blocked.
2. Contacted my virus protection (Trend Micro). They have no sounds.
3. Turned off the sound scheme on Windows so there is no sound (and it still
happens.).

For example, if I go to www.foxnews.com and click on one of their stories, I
get the sound. It is driving me crazy!

Start>Control Panel>Sounds & Audio>Sounds tab>Program Events
Scroll down the list and see if there is a "door slam" sound
event listed. You can test each one by clicking the small arrow
to the right of it. There you have the choice to select (None).

Control Panel\Sounds and Audio Devices\Sounds (Tab) search for either a
Windows Explorer or other category that seems pertinent for a sound that
matches what you hear. There is also
Control panel\Internet Properties\Advanced\Multimedia settings that can
be adjusted.

Since you've said "some" web pages do this and not others, it may not be
a setting on your computer but part of the web page code. In that case,
you may just need to tell the web master for that site that you don't
like the effect. Don't expect much in the way of a response. :)
