Sound is distorted. Sounds like Karaoke.

Every once in a while, my music played from downloaded music sounds like a
Karaoke setting is in effect, the "music" sounds normal but the "vocals" are
barely audible. I have gone through the volume control and made sure the mic
was muted, but I can't understand what is happening.

I generally play the music through RealPlayer. And I am running XP Home.

Any thoughts?
