Hey all. When I'm using my PC hard it gets fairly noisy as I have a fan
controller and I push up fan speed to compensate for the extra heat. I was
thinking of putting in some sound insulation however I'm worried that it'll
have little to no actual effect. Why I say this is will the sound insulation
insulate the pc for heat aswell therefore increasing the heat and therefore
the speed of the fans have to go up and so noise goes up to the same levels
as before. Has anyone had any experience with this?
Thanks.
Martin.

Bingo, thats a problem. You CAN insulate your pc but you do need more
airflow to compensate. Airflow=Noise unless you go liquid at least I
haven't had a great success with sound insulation without upping the airflow
to where the insulation does a whole lot.

you could try this stuff called dynamat. I dont know if its being used any
more or not. Its used for in your car if you have a very large speaker
system.
