i am formatting a series of powerpoint shows that interact with one another.
The main page has a menu that when pushed, hyperlinks to a show about birds.
Each bird has their own song. If I hit the action button for home, the show
hyperlinks back to the original show with the menu button, but the sound,
which is set for going off after the slide disappears, continues. It doesn't
even matter if another slide with sound is showing. Then we end up with two
birdie songs at the same time.
Is there any way to hyperlink a slide with a sound, and at the same time to
tell the sound to g"go away" when the slide goes away?(Especially since the
first bird is a loon, its driving everyone loony!)

jstech,

What version of powerpoint are you using?

Have you tried messing about with the "stop previous sound" option ?

It's buried away on the "slideshow menu > slide transition > sound > [stop previous sound]

One other tip.......
If I hit the action button for home, the show
hyperlinks back to the original show with the menu button

You might want to set this action button to "exit", this will return from whence it came. It also saves you having
tooooo many open presentations at the same time during a slideshow, which can lead to problems.

I think that it's because when you click on the link you really haven't reached
the "end" of the slide, so the sound continues. If the link were to "End Show"
instead, the sound would end and you would be returned to the point you came
from, i.e. the menu. Would that work?

(I'd be loony too. Oh, wait a minute. I already am, so I guess I'd feel at
home. <G>)

when i set the action button to "exit show", the whole thing froze and the
slides wouldn't even advance on any mouse click. i think that the suggestion
about "stop previous sound" is working thought. thanks
