sound has disappeared

all the sound on me laptop has disappeared from playing
cds to the start up jingel etc etc.

its not the volume

any tips
 
Try double clicking on the volume control in the lower
right hand corner. This will open your volume control
window. Make sure none of the controls have been muted or
turned all the way down. This happens to me frequently
even though I never go in and disable any of these on my
own. I found it by chance. I hope it works for you.
