Suddenly I can't get any sound on my Dell with Windows XP Professional. For
example there is not even any "music" when I boot up or close down. No sound
in running RealPlayer. All connections are intact, volume controls as they
should be. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Hardly more than you may have thought of yourself:
- What is known to be changed after the last time you heard sound?
- Does the Hardware manager give some clue?
- What device is shown as the default audio output?

That's just it: I can't think of any change since the last time I heard
sound. Can't find "hardware manager"; is that in Control Panel, "Add
Hardware" or "Sounds and Audio Devices"? Tried those, no luck, but maybe I
missed something. Is "Default Audio output" the same as "sound playback,
default device"? That's "SoundMAX Digital Audio." Thanks. Jon Brown
