I though I had posted this last night but can not see it!!

Anyway I have a few questions if any anbody can help - John/Pappa???

1 Sound.
I have a 4 minute movie created and want to add a backing track to it. I
have saved a track from CD using Windows Media player 9. This saves it as a
wma file and I am able to import this and add it fine.
When I burn my cd and comvert it to MPEG2 it appears to be poor quality on
playback. Should I make any changes here?

2. When saving my movie I beleive the options have changed when chosing to
save to my computer I know have:
"Best Quality......."
"Best fit... " where you choose a file size
"Other Settings" where DV-AVI is. Did this not used to be its own
selection??

I am running MM 2.0.3312.0 has this just been updated?

I know the above is just a general question what I am really interested in
is advice on using sound in my movie.

Thanks in advance one more

Simon

Doh!!!

Just found the bit about editing sound. I would still be interested to hear
about quality of saving files that include sound as well as my query on the
version of MM2?

Cheers

Hi Simon,

There are two possibilities.
1) When you recorded the track, you did so at a low quality. Solution is
obvious.
2) There mat be something wrong with one of your codecs...or the program is
not using the best codec available. Take a look at the problem solving >
Audio issues > Audio Codecs section.

Hi Again,

Your version of MM2 is the same as mine...its a few weeks now since I
updated MM2...I'm just wondering if MM2 is included in the auto update
feature of XP...must check that.

On the issue of Audio Quality, some software packages give you the option of
recording at Telephone Quality, CD Quality etc. You nearly always find that
there is at least one setting that is better than CD Quality...fighting the
stupid cat off the keyboard here...

Anyway, you can also choose to record at a variable bit rate and when doing
so, you choose an upper limit for the sample rate. I recently did that. and
got quite unexpected results making the recording unusable. That might have
been my software that was at fault (MusicMatch) I did ask in the newsgroup
if anyone else had experienced the problems, but no one answered so I assume
it was just a local issue. Generally speaking, CD quality audio is just
fine, you can go higher of course, but the higher you go, the larger the
file will become and of course the processing requirements on playback of
video plus audio will be higher.

BTW, I sent you an email yesterday...did it arrive?

Hi Again,

I am just uploading a short piece of video to my site "Fun +" it has
slightly less than CD quality audio, there is also a very basic trick that
you can perform with scrolling text.

Thanks once more for the response I will take a look later, I am supposed to
be working from home (not much work being done!!)

Yes I did get your email but my reply bounced back, basically I do not have
any relatives in the Police in the West Midlands with the name Wiltshire
although my brother inlaw is in the Nottinghamshire Police. I live in Derby
though which isn't far from the West Midlands.

Any way currently trying to back up 2gb of data onto DVD but Nero is telling
me it is over 500mb guess it beleives it is a CD, not sure how to get around
this any ideas?

O my pop3 account is also complaining, and I can hear the kids crying down
stairs, I think I will go back to work :-)

Cheers
Simon

Hi Simon,

Sorry the email bounced back I will have to check on the settings, I have
obviously got something wrong somewhere.

I use Ghost to do my backups...my god does it save some time backing up on
to DVD.

I know its off topic...I helped a chap, Dave Wiltshire, join the Traffic
Division at Solihull. He was a great chap...he went home one morning with a
bad cold...which became quite serious...he had in fact caught a disease and
had to have a heart replacement. He came to visit some time after that and
arranged to come see me again. He was unexpectedly taken back into Hospital
and apparently tried to get the consultant to phone me. He died, right in
front of the Consultant with a major heart attack He was one of 11 funerals
I have been to in 7ish yrs I worked with all of them, and around half of
them were younger than me. Makes you think Eh?
