how can a sound file be attached or embedded in to a
power point show so that the sound file becomes a part of
the power point show and when the power point
presentation is tranferred and showed on some other
computer, the sound in the power point presentation plays.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - If you are using Office 2003, you should install this
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello Harry,

PowerPoint allows you to embed audio files (when using the "Insert ->
Movies and Sounds -> Sound from File" command) if it's a *.WAV file and it
does not exceed the file size specified in the "General" tab of the
"Options" dialog.

While it's nice to be able to have all of your content embedded into the
presentation file (nothing linked), it's not really necessary in most cases
because PowerPoint already provides mechanisms by which presentations with
linked content can be transeferred intact to other computers.

There are a variety of workarounds to make your presentations with linked
content more portable including:

* Pack and Go (PPT 2002 and earlier), or
* Package for CD in PowerPoint 2003
* Saving presentation in MHTML format (single file web page)

Of course, If you (or anyone else reading this message) feel strongly that
PowerPoint should provide other options to assist in making presentations
more portable, don't forget to send your suggestion, and the reasons why it
is important to you, to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also why it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
