Sound Files not working

I am trying to insert sound files on my Mac computer. Every time I try to
insert a sound file, I get a message that says "PowerPoint can not insert the
selected file." Does anyone know why this is happening? It lets me insert
sound files on Powerpoint on PC but I need the powerpoint to work on MAC and
PCs.
