Hi,
I am a research coordinator at a
Children's Hospital. My group and I are using a
program called MediaLab to develop a questionnaire for our subjects. We
have run into a snag that I'm hoping you will be able to help us
resolve. Someone from our project had contacted the company
about using an html file in our questionnaire that would
allow us to play a wav file when it was clicked on. We have used the
file that was sent to us. However when we run the experiment and
click on the html file we get an error message and the wav file does
not play on two of the 3 tablet pcs we are using. I have worked with the IT
department to trouble shoot the
problem and have not been able to resolve it. The template they sent us
contains Java script. The error message that we get says:
Error: object doesnt support this property or method.

Also I have had someone rewrite the script, which removed the error message,
but the sound file still didnt play. I believe there is a setting that must
be changed somewhere that I dont know about. the IE settings for all three
tablets are the same.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check your File Associations.
Open Windows Explorer>Tools>Folder Options>File Types

Well I have a couple of things that you can research.
Common script errors messages can be eliminated by Clicking:
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. 3. In the Internet Options
dialog box, click Advanced.
4. Click to select the Disable script debugging check box.
5. Click to clear the Display a notification about every script error check
box.
6. Click OK.

No luck

Hey< checked that out without any luck. Can you think of any settings that
might be affected by us having limited user rights on these machines?

There shouldn't be any problems in the limited user accounts.
The only other problem just about has to be with the attaching of the .wav
file to the script.
Have you tried to open it on any other computer?
I can give you a loc. where you can ask someone that specializes in Tablet
PC's.

Hey, I think I have been in touch with Chris already about this along with a
few other people and so far I still cant get to the bottom of this. It is
very frustarting because there does not seem to be any obvious reason for
this not to work. I have tried it on my home computer and it works just fine
and it does work on one of the three tablets. It doesnt work on my desktop at
work either.
