sound file will not embed despite increasing max size & reinsert

I have tried several times to embed a sound file into my PowerPoint. I have
increased the Max file size to well above the size of the file I want to
embed, deleted the file, then reinserted it and it still will not embed. This
never happened to me in Office 2003. What am I missing?
 
Which type of sound file are you trying to embed? Only WAV files can be
embedded into PowerPoint.
