A few weeks ago I was messing around in my sounds and somehow clicked on
something that makes my sound echo. i.e. micosoft sound and voices in videos.
It's very annoying, I have searched a hucdred times trying to find what I did
and can't locate where I changed the setting. Please help. Thanks

Based on the amount of detail you provided ("I was messing around in my
sounds") the best anyone can do is take a guess: Many sound cards come
with software that adds digital effects like echoes. Open the software
for your sound card and look for the setting that creates echoes.

Is the microphone muted?

No discrete sound card in mine, however, there is a 'sound
manager'....Realtek AC97. It has the option to add "Auditorium" sound
(basically an echo effect). Open your control panel, (Start, Settings,
Control Panel) and scroll down to 'sounds'.....the "Sounds and Audio
Devices" is the Windows app, look for something else that relates to your
sound effect. It is also possible that the control access is in your
System Tray, depending on how you have it set.
