Hi!

I have an ASROCK motherboard with SoundMax Audio Chip and one SATA
hard-drive.
I like to work and listen to music, mp3 files. If, while listening to music,
i open some program such WORD, EXCEL, i hear some drop and clipping in the
music. Every time it accesses HD, music clips and drops. Can someone help
me?

Thanks in advance!

How much RAM do you have? Doubling your RAM to at
least 512Mb should solve your problem. If you are running
many large apps you may need to increase to 1 Gig.

Hi!
First, thanks for the reply!

It´s not a RAM problem. I have 1Gb of DDR Ram!
Here is my system:

Asrock 775V88+ Motherboard
Pentium 4 3.0Ghz Cpu - Socket 775
1Gb DDR Ram
Maxtor 6L200S0 160Gb Sata HD
Radeon 9250 with 128mb Vga
CDRW Samsung

What could be happening? Everytime I open one app the MP3 clips until the hd
stops.
After openning the app, sound work normally!

Thanks

Yes, your RAM should be sufficient. Try this and see if it helps:
Start>Run>type MSCONFIG>OK>Startup tab
Now uncheck/disable all that are checked except your Anti-virus.
Reboot. Close window stating you've changed your startup. Try
your sound system again. If all is well, do the steps above again
and check/enable the items one at a time to find which one is
causing the problem.

Problem Solved!!!!
It wasn´t any program loaded at startup!
The problem was solved by installing VIARAID DRIVERS (SATA DRIVERS) and VIA
4in1 !
Thanks for your help, Byte!

That would do it. You're welcome and happy putering :~)
