My computer audio will work for anywhere from ten minutes to a few hours and
then suddenly cut out. It is not tied to any pattern or process; it will cut
out even when there is no other activity. I can reboot and it will work
again for awhile. Sometimes it will happen when the printer finishes
spoolong qa big print job.
This happens both with an audio card or without one. I have no ? or ! in the
device manager. I have tried various speaker systems to rule this out.
I have removed and reinstalled all audio applications (Real Media, Win
Media, etc.). I am using a P4s8x-x board with Asus chip. I have 512MB RAM
and have tried it with only one of each chip to eliminate this as a cause.
Still does it.
Any thoughts? I am thinking of adding another 512 of RAM just to see if I
can muscle out the problem.
