Sound Drivers

I cant get my audio system to work, i had to reinstall my
windows XP and know i can get my sound to work.
How can i know which drivers can i use and where to
install them: c:\windows\drivers
c:\windows\system32\drivers
c:\windows\system32\driers\spools
Where?
