the sound on my computer does not work at all something to do with the audio device. Can anyone help me?

You might to reinstall the drivers for your audio device, meaning the sound card (if you have one installed) or the sound codecs in your motherboard. To do this, you need to check with the maufacturer of the audio device by searching their site. Or, if you have a disc with the drivers, you can pop that in and reinstall. If that doesn't work, then please post back.

the website jus tells me things that i have already tried.

When did this happen ? After installing some software or hardware ? Try
restoring from a point before what ever you did - does that work ?

If your motherboard has onbaord sound, make sure it is disabled in the BIOS.
To access the BIOS press the DEL key (F10 in some cases) at boot-up.

Right click on My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > select
your soundcard (there is probably a yellow triangle against it > tell us
what the error message says. Try using the XP troubleshooter.

Try replacing your soundcard with one from a friend's computer (not easy, I
know).

Cheers,
Jerry
