I want to have different sounds on different scenes:
I want to put the sound from my taping on a few scenes but have the rest of the scenes with just music and no other sounds.

You need to cuit up the clip into several sections, so that you can mute the
portions you want and add music to them. If you need lots of background
music etc, you may have to save the clips with the added music and then
reimport them to the timeline where you will again have an empty music track

Hello there,

There is truly magnificent program called Audacity which is a free download
(See the link on my site) You can run this program in conjunction with
Movie Maker at the top of the screen and Audacity at the bottom. You can
then add-in your sound effects to Audacity at the appropriate locations and
when finished create a WAV file that you can import to Movie Maker,
override the sound in Movie Maker and use the audio from Audacity instead.
This should give you more flexibility than you will ever need
