I have a customer who has least twice monthly blows his sound card, either
the Line In is not working anymore or it's the Line Out.
He plugs in stereo equipment which I think maybe doing some to the cards

Tell your customer he should invest in the proper speakers
designed for his particular sound card capabilities. Examples:

May also want to check the ground side of Line In and Out cables for any
voltage differential between the Stereo equipment and the PC.
There should no (zero) AC or DC voltage measured between the cable ground
and the PC card when the cable is not connected and the equipment at both
end is on.

Find out what output from the stereo is plugged into what input on the
sound card. It should be very easy to overload a sound card input.

As for the sound card output, that would be more difficult to break.
Again, ask the customer to tell you exactly what is being done.

If the customer won't tell you what is being done, what the equipment is
that is being connected, or insists on doing something stupid, just be
happy that you are getting repeat business. You are not a baby sitter.

A one year warranty on the system Robert, I am obligated to replace the
sound card free of charge

Carey,
Do you suggest I put in a sound card and speakers that are compatible with
each other?

If the user is plugging in stereo equiptment that is not properly grounded, then it is the users
fault and you should be under no obligation after the first swap out for them.

Yeh I am starting to wonder, been 4 cards so far and still under warranty
for another 4 months

Unless the cards were all part of the same batch from the manufacturer the
statistical odds of four cards failing is ....
He is either using the direct out normally used for 8 ohm speakers on his
stereo equipment or there are grounding problems.

You are only obligated to replace the card if it is used correctly. If
customers misuse equipment, that should break any warranty. That's why
you must find out exactly what the customer is doing with it.
