Sound Card Vista Drivers

I have an msi neo2 865pe that has the on board sound with the digital
outputs.(C-media audio onboard) I have never used these before so
this is foreign ground to me. I want to get the full 5.1 feel via
this output but i don't know if the drivers aren't correct or what the
issue is but I can only get stereo coming out of this output. Anyone
have any idea on how to get this working?

Can we assume that you've been to both the MSI and C-Media web sites to find
the latest drivers offered?
If the drivers offered don't give you the features you need, you might try
contacting MSI technical support to see if they can assist you.

After going to the MSI site, I fear I may have led you to a dead end
previously.
I found an old product page (2002), but it appears that MSI is no longer
offering drivers for this board.
You may be out of luck.
Similarly, C-Media appears not to offer Vista drivers for your chip.

It looks like your sound chip is old enough that neither MSI nor C-Media has
issued Vista drivers for it.

As it's working, I suppose that Microsoft has included drivers. Are there
set-up options in the Sound control panel that help you? (Are you actually
using 5.1 speakers, or hoping to get a surround sound experience with a 2
speaker setup?)
