I bought a sound blaster audigy gamer sound card and
installed it on my comp running windows xp. i installed
the drivers properly and the card is in the pci slot
perfectly. everytime i start windows, i get an error
message saying "the sound card in the system is not
properly installed. please reinstall the sound card." i
uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them but keep
getting the same message. any help with this problem would
be most appreciated. thank you.

Jack, try a different PCI Slot. Don't install the Software. Let Winxp
recognize the Card. Once it has then you can update
the drivers.

I am trying to figure out if I have a sound card or not. I can hear music on the cd player, but I have been trying to hear my daughter using MSN messenger, and the computer says that either I do not have a sound card or it is not recognized. How do I fix this problem?
