sound card irq's?

I have just installed windows 98 onto a P2 (Intel MU440EX motherboard) - the
system is all up and running apart from the onboard sound card (Yamaha XG
ymf740-v) - I install the drivers and on system startup the system hangs. If
I go into safe mode and uninstall the sound card all is well - my question
is, if there is an IRQ conflict (no exclamation mark next to device!) then I
cannot see it - how can I tell? And how can I change it in safe mode?

Thats where technical knowledge comes in.
You have go like this:

OK Im sticking it in this other slot.......Lets see...... its booting
up . Nope its still not working. Ok Im sticking it in that slot way
over there..................

And this is where reading skills come in:

Lets see, it's on-board sound, how the f%#k can I move it to another slot?

Ah ha missed that - just disable and use other soundcard if its
terminally creating problems but I doubt thats the problem if its
built in.

Wasnt there a thing in WIn 98 - im going by memory since I havent used
it in ages , where under device manager you can click on the item and
change the IRQ and possibly some other setttings? DIdnt always work
but on somethings you could if I recall correctly.
