Since installing MS Windows 2000 prof I get no sound
though my Boston speakers. Could it be the sound card is
incompatible with the OS? I am using Creative Sound
Blaster Live Basic WDM. This is a gateway pc and the sound
card was originally installed when windows 98 and
subsequently windows ME OS were used. If my sound card is
incompatible does anyone have a reasonable alternate
suggestion?

Thanks, MArk

Try hardware (Soundcard) manu site for drivers, if non available, new
soundcard - you pays yr money and selects whichever, depends whether
gaming/music use or general usage - as a generalisation Creative cards are
usually OK.
I trust youve checked yr other hardware, eg video, for any Win2k drivers.
Possible also bios.

Update your sound card drivers from http://www.creative.com . The default
Win2K drivers for SBLive are functional, but to get all the features, you
need the Liveware from Creative. Also make sure your speakers don't need a
separate driver (pretty rare, but some speakers do, such as USB-driven
speakers.)
