Is there any way to 1) make a sound on a pocketpc device? And if so, 2)
make that sound louder? 3) Change the sound?

I'm developing an inventory type app that will run on a shop floor. It
needs to beep when the user scans a valid part, and beep a different sound
when they scan an incorrect part.

And it needs to beep loudly.

Currently I'm writing it for an Intermec device - and I know they have sdks
available - but, I want this app to be usable on ANY device.

Is this possible with native CF and VS.net (VB)?

Thanks,

Mike

The easiest way to do it is to prerecord several wave files (on the
desktop). Wave files can vary in volume, length and pitch. This will work on
every device. The recorded wave files can be played by P/Invoking
PlaySound().

Thanks for that Alex. That idea had come to mind.

Other than me making blabbering beeping sounds and guttenal (sp?) warning
tones with my own voice, does anyone have any suggestions on how best to do
this?

Are there freeware sounds available out there? I've been searching but
can't tell, and doubt, that the one's I'm finding are free for use.

Thanks!

Mike

Looks like they were purchased by Adobe, and now (or always?), the package
costs $299... for a couple sound bites, ouch.

Are there others out there? I'm looking now, but recommendations are always
preferred.

thx.
