Sound and Video Files won't play

I am installing sound (*.wav) and video (*.mpeg) files
into PPT presentations (using PPT 2002 & Win XP). All of
the files are created on the same computer and exported
through the same process. I am installing the files from
CD into the same folder that contains the PPT
presentation. SOME of the files are working fine and
will play when I double click on them, or start the
presentation. Other files don't play at all. When I
double click on the video files I get a white screen
where the video should play, the audio files just don't
do anything. All of these files play just fine when I
play them in the Media Player. Another strange "feature"
is that these files will work when I link them from the
CD, just not when I link them from the C:/ drive.
Please HELP!
Thanks,
Tiffany

Are you absolutely certain about this? Is there any chance the finished
files have differing data rates or codecs? I ask as I just don't see how
this can happen if indeed the files are in the exact same format. If you
right click the file and select properties what does it tell you?
