Sound and Outlook

We had do a recovery on our HP pavilion and we have
Windows XP. We had sound before the recovery and now we
have sound, but it is not amplified. If you put the
speaker close to your ear you can hear sound. We have
all the settings for amplication up as high as it will
go. We do not know if we need an update to drivers or a
new sound card. We have contacted HP and they had us
uninstall and reinstall the driver. This did not help.

Also, I need to do a download for outlook software and I
do not know which download to pick. We use outlook and
can receive messages but can not send messages. We have
talked to our DSL provider and the settings are correct.
They suggested the download from the internet.

Any help would be appreciated.
 
Nora, go to Classic Control Panel>Sound and Audio Devices Icon. Click and
select Volume>Advanced. Check to see
if all your sliders are at least half way and nothing is muted.
