Sorting the SentTo menu

Frank C. Dauenhauer

I'm running WinXP Pro SP1, in the Windows Classic mode.

I have a rather long "SendTo" menu (the menu that opens from the Send To item, when you right-click on a file in Explorer). Its contents are unsorted, which makes the individual items on it hard to find.

I've tried right-clicking on a blank gray area of the menu, trying to get a menu with the option with "Sort by name" to appear, but right-clicking the gray area does nothing. If I right-click on a menu item, it activates that item, which I don't want to happen. I've tried opening the SendTo folder and sorting and resorting its contents, but this has no effect on the SendTo menu.

Can anyone tell me how to sort the items that appear on the SendTo menu?

Thank you!

Hi Frank,

Try going to Documents and Settings\<your account profile name>\Send To\

Try sorting that folder by "List" or "Details"
Restart and see if that helps.

Thanks for your reply, Ken. I followed your instructions, but it made no difference.

I would like to have included a screenshot, but apparently this server doesn't allow binaries. Here's a list, in order from top to bottom, of the items on my SendTo menu:

Compressed (zipped) Folder
Desktop (create shortcut)
Mail Recipient
DiskSpan
GhostView
IrfanView
Prn-Print
Any Folder...
Clipboard as Contents
Clipboard as Name
Command Line
DBXtract
EditPad Classic
Favorites
SendTo
MS Word
PDFMeld
SendTo FTP
Sure Delete
FileIdentify
Start Menu
Programs
ReadPlease
ZipWrangler
CSDiff
Winamp
Internet Mail Recipient
DocReader
InterParse4
TrayPlay
EasyDOCViewer
uBook Reader
WinMediaPlayer
dMC Audio CD Input
Impact ColorFax Lite
pdfmeld
TotalRecorder
FxEdit
My Documents
Run
EZ CD Creator 5
dBpowerAMP
Startup
3 1/2 Floppy (A:)

It's in the same order after doing the procedure as before. Might there be other options? Thank you.

Frank
