A rookie question:

I have used the sorting command generally to sort using column headers. Is
it possible to sort a group of cells together taking one of the cells as the
primary sorting value:

There is a group of cells e.g. A1 to B4 that goes together as a group. Cells
C1 to D4 goes as another group. And there are sevearal groups like that.
I want to sort the groups using values in say cell B2 and D2, such that the
whole group goes together in the sorting.

Can I do this kind of sorting

Thanks

OK,

In a word, no. Excel sorts using one column per sort key. You'll find a
lot of Excel tools won't work with fields spread across columns as you
describe. Perhaps if you give some example of the data, we can suggest some
ways to restructure it.
